graffiti workshop and demo Join us for an artist talk and hands-on demonstration by the artists in VAE’s upcoming Window-down: Beyond Street Art educational graffiti exhibit. call for artists: city market beautification project Have your art featured in the windows of a historic landmark! The City Market building (aka Greenshields) is undergoing interior renovations and to keep the area looking vibrant and beautiful VAE has partnered with the owner to install art printed on vinyl in the building’s windows. We are looking for colorful art (of all media) depicting “Parks of the World & Imagination”, meaning scenes of parks you love or love to imagine. Twenty to thirty artists will be chosen for this project. Chosen artists’ names and websites will be featured with their artwork. To participate: Mail/deliver a CD to VAE, 325 Blake St, Raleigh 27601. Submissions may also be emailed to visualartexchange@yahoo.com. Artists may submit up to three images. Entry deadline: November 11, 2008. IMPORTANT: due to the scale of the printing jpegs must be no less than 31 inches wide and 39 inches tall and a minimum of 72 dpi. Works not meeting this size requirement will not be considered for this project.

This exhibition will explore the diversity and beauty of North Carolina’s landscape from the pastel houses of the outer banks to the rising Raleigh skyline and the winding roads and mountains of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Literal and abstract takes on North Carolina are welcome. It doesn’t have to be a landscape in the traditional sense, but the work should be evocative of our state. Juried by Tom Grubb, director of the Fayetteville Museum of Art. (click here to read Tom Grubb’s bio)
Artists: To enter print out and complete the attached prospectus. Submit your entry form, slides or jpegs, and entry fee to VAE by April 1.** (**This is not a postmark deadline.
